Pitch

Our client is Yasmin Amirah a 16 year old singer/ songwriter that mainly appeals to the RnB genre
In our video we plan to use different locations, one of them will be a white bedroom with fairy lights. In this scene the dominant shot type will be extreme close ups and we will be using soft focus to film the lights.
Also we will use extreme slow motion to film the feathers dropping as our video is going to be a conceptual/narrative video
The next location will be London. This will be contrasting going from light to dark and day to night time. We will also film crowded places then lonely places we want to create a clear contrast in the video to get the message across that the star in text is lonely
The narrative goes along the lines of a young girl waking up in her bedroom travelling out into London for the day upset and alone even though people surround her and at the end she finds her ‘love’. The conceptual reading of this is that the feathers are always falling throughout the video and the last shot we plan to use is the feathers finally hitting the floor.
We have discussed intertextual references and information on our blog but we feel like we want to recreate the edit that made in Chelsea uses because we listened to the song and thought of this as a editing technique. Also ghost the film because we want the character to be confused between reality and dream state.
Our artist has 2,237 followers on twitter so isn’t very well known this makes her a good choice for us to use because we can package and brand her in our own way and give her a particular image that we think would work well.

We will use beat editing and lip-syncing in our video to show that we have a relationship to the music and visuals. We want to arc around London and the most dominant shot type will be close ups to give a sense of sex appeal but not too much as she is a young artist.`"Our target audience for our client is focused on the culture around south-East London . This is because the majority of her audience is based around this area. As South East London is very integrated in different ethnicities, it is important to include different cultures in our video so that we can widen our target. The genre of music is a mix between R&B and Hip-Hop, as it is a female artist typically she appeals to the female audience as she is presented as an aspiration. However this genre of music is also known to be very 'sexy' and known for sexualising the female gender so therefore will apply to hetrosexual men. To expand our target to people with other sexualities than just hetrosexual, by using couples in our video who have different sexualities to the 'norm'.

Our intertextual references will be related to the film Ghost, as we are using editing techniques to make our star in text appear as a ghost. This will make the video hyper real. The lighting and soft focus we are going to use will be similar to the camera editing in Made in Chelsea. As the programme is shot in London, it is a good way of how we can also film the city. Existing music videos that we have taken inspiration from is Ed Sheerans 'give me love' for the narrative element of our video. Similar to this our character will be a lonely angel, who guides people to their loved one. Similar shots for the bedroom scene, are interpreted from Shontelles 'T-shirt', and Miley Cyrus' 'Adore You' videos. Both use a lot of white editing. Another video, which uses lens flares to make a halo effect is Britney Spears' 'Every time'.

Camera Editing

First of all we tested using a small light behind my head to create the 'halo' effect, similarly used on Britney Spears' "Every time" video. However in the future we will need a large spotlight and we will be using a professional camera so we can focus on the main singer. This lighting will be used to suggest the innocence of our character, and hint towards her being an angel guiding people.

We then used the mirrors to see where the camera can be placed without the camera being seen. We now know it will be possible to use close ups through the mirror and film both the mirror and person at once with a wide mirror. Mirrors imply peoples true personality by showing their reflection.

Lens flare is a camera shot, which will be used in our video to shoot the location ( London) and star in text.

Moodboard

On our mood board, I have used pictures of locations which we are going to use or create, inter textual references from existing music videos and examples of lighting and shots that will be most consistent in our video. The main camera edit as you can see is soft focus. The star in text will be shown as an angel, as we are using a conceptual style of video as well as narrative we will use feathers a lot in our video. The pace of it will be very slow, to challenge the 'busy' city, which we will be using for our location.

Existing Music Video Influences

Our video will be shot and edited in a similar way to this video with the facial close ups and extreme close ups of the artists body. Also the light editing making it look soft and clear, we will also be going in and out of focus between different shots making our video appear softer and less harsh. We will also have elements of lip syncing from the star in text.

This video contains advanced editing where Rihanna is duplicated various times in the same scence faintly, we would like to achieve this effect in our video or make our star in text appear to be a ghost and walk through doors and objects.
The shot types at the start of this video are ones we would try to re create, the shots of her body that then go to her hands and she is lip syncing. Also the slow motion walking and editing of the shots are a technique we would like to use.In this video the artist is perceived as a male gaze and is portrayed in a sexual way, this is something we are planning to achieve.

The death of you and me

Noel Ghallagers, 'trilogy' of music videos is a creative way of making a narrative more interesting and retaining his audience. With our own music video we will be using slight symbolism, however the star in text will be lip syncing and therefore more current in the video. This is a way of selling to the audience through creating a campaign, the fact that at the end it says 'to be continued' makes the audience want to listen to the next song and is a way to keep the audience interested. Noel Gallagher has been re created in a new way in this trilogy he isn't the young rebellious english teen he used to be portrayed as he has had an image change to conform to the new target audience.

Video Analysis-
The female in the video is a modern representation of Cupid. Although stereotypically Cupid is a symbol of love and joy, the video is very dark. 'Cupid' shoots herself with the arrow because she is lonely and only see's happy people in love.

Intertextuality- Blur The Universal
Clockwork Orange is referenced in this music video, by the main singer of the band resembling "Alex". The band are filmed in the same way as the introduction of the film, there is a close up on the main character and then zooms out to reveal the rest of the gang/band. The film is about a violent young gang who commit violent crimes, this gives Blur a rebellious and violent representation.
